Physical Properties
The area of around Isthmus is rather shallow being under 5 meters for most of it only being 10 meters and its deepest point where it has a small drop. The area is also unvegetated, and therefore has no reefs or sea grass in the area. As well as being Unvegetated the area around the neck is quite shallow and well sheltered by the land around. These things suggest according to the Sea map Tasmania website in the habitats tab it where it gives 4 examples of classifications given to unvegetated unconsolidated substrates and after reading all four definitions and it leaves 2 possibility's that the sea bed could be hard sand or silty sand, but there's a map in the Report for the D’Entrecasteaux Channel Project from Tarfish that says that the area around the neck is hard sand apart from the deeper bit which is silty sand.
